Kayaking 101

As the title of the page suggests, this section of the website is all about teaching you, the new paddler, about the sport of whitewater kayaking. We have descriptions on techniques you can learn, rivers you can paddle, and the gear that is needed. Of course, the best way to learn anything, especially whitewater kayaking, is to come out to our lessons and trips to get first hand experience and knowledge from our instructors, executives, and members. Everyone in the club is very welcoming and always willing to lend a helping hand to the people just starting to get into the sport. So don’t be afraid to ask questions and learn from the vast knowledge base of our experienced members.

One thing that is consistent amongst everyone who enjoys the whitewater experience is there is always more to learn. Everyone from a complete beginner to a world champion can always learn something new. CUKC is happy to provide as much hands-on teaching as we can muster, from the pool to the river. Can’t be in the water all the time? No problem! In this section you will find a whole range of techniques, moves, and general tips and information for every paddler.
